As part of the scientific research activity at Hilla University College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohsen Al-Yasiri, Head of the Dental Department in our college, published an international research in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial pathology, which is one of the reputable scientific journals within Scopus containers with an impact factor and it is within the third quarter Q3.
Where the researcher indicated that the research dealt with: Osteoporosis is a chronic progressive behavioral disease with serious physical and psychological consequences.
Study objectives: To evaluate the presence and impact of temporomandibular joint disorders in patients with osteoarthritis.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fifty-eight (58) patients with osteoporosis participated in this study as they had already been diagnosed by rheumatologists, physical and sports rehabilitation physicians 2019/2020/2021.
RESULTS: Twenty-seven (27) patients had T.MJ clicks as anterior disc displacement, seventeen (17) patients had masticatory muscle spasm, and finally fourteen (14) out of 58 patients had subluxation and dislocation.
Conclusions: Osteoporosis has a significant impact on oral health through its impact on the formation of the cranial and maxillofacial bones, their general structure and histological structure.
