As part of the scientific research activity at Hilla University College, Assistant Lecturer Hussein Talib in the Department of English (Education) at Hilla University College published a scientific research entitled (The Impact of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a Means of Healing in Alice Walker’s Novel ‘The Color Purple’), PTSD as A Means of Healing in Alice Walker’s The Color Purple,, in the Journal of the University of Babylon for Humanities
The research deals with a psychological literary reading of the term (PTSD): (the effect of post-traumatic stress disorder) and how it plays an important role as a catalyst for healing in the novel The Color Purple by Alice Walker, where the researcher addresses the use of Freudian psychoanalytic theory (Sigmund Freud) in the psychological reading of the main characters. In the novel, by analyzing the psychological disorders that the characters were exposed to because of their color, race, and gender, such as: (persecution, racism, physical abuse, home confinement, and others) in order to clarify the role of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the process of healing from these psychological traumas.
It is noteworthy that Hilla University College greatly supports its teaching staff and encourages them to pursue scientific research and publish their research in reputable scientific journals within international capacities.
